Famous son follows in fathers footsteps at Brighton College

Being one of the best independent schools in England, Brighton College attracts the children of famous parents. One is student Fred Dimbleby, son of well known Question Time journalist and host David Dimbleby.

Fred recently followed in his fathers professional footsteps, chairing a debate on a local radio station. During the European Union referendum campaign Fred presented the last half hour of the breakfast show for BBC Sussex from Brighton College itself.

At only 18 years old, he performed well and received praise from Neil Pringle who is the regular host.

Providing the for and against arguments were two Conservative MP’s, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Matthew Parris. They were assisted by two Brighton College students, Molly O’Gorman and Alex Manzoor.

The ‘Brexit’ debate concept has helped to improve the 6th Formers understanding of a complex subject.

The ‘for’ and ‘against’ arguments were put forward with passion and clarity. The confidence and intelligence shown is testament to the wonderful education he has received at Brighton College.

Debates on important world events are actively encouraged at Brighton College. Consequently students will have developed analytical thinking and reasoning before they go to university. The debates cover a wide range of subject matter.

Such unique opportunities for students at Brighton College are why its considered one of best independent schools in England.
